The rainwater in our tuff trays turned into ice! The children were fascinated. They decided they wanted to break it up, so as we always do, we let the children take the lead in their learning! They gathered drills, spoons, hammers and lots of other ideas! The children worked together to break up the ice, they used some really impressive vocabulary to describe what was happening, “its sharp and shiny.” We then left some ice on the side to see how long it would take to melt, made some icy winter ‘soup’ with the rest, and also left bowls of water out to see if it would freeze again overnight!
