Neptune class had a fantastic time at Quarry Bank Mill where we learnt all about Victorian life working in the mills. We looked at how the mill worked- including the water wheel and steam, we watched the machines making cotton and listened to how noisy it was and thought about the working conditions.
In the afternoon, we experienced life as a Victorian orphan who was sold to the Apprentice house, had a Victorian school lesson, made a Victorian bed, visited the doctor and completed Victorian household chores.
We decided that we are glad we don’t live in the Victorian times as it is a lot of long hours, hard work and little pay!
